The Athirapally Waterfalls in Trichur, Kerala, are often referred to as the Niagara Falls of India. They come crashing down and are an amazing sight to behold. Combined with the greenery, it infuses freshness into any tired soul. The cool, misty waters cascading down in the backdrop of thick green forest and rocky terrain, are a scintillating experience to visitors. CLIMATEAthirapally can be visited throughout year (expect June which is a high monsoon period, during this period you won’t be allowed to go near the falls and taking bath in falls is not recommended).The region of the waterfall generally has a temperate tropical type of climate and the temperature is mild for most parts of the year. Winters are mild and this is the best time to visit the place (December to February).
HOW TO REACH?A good motorable road takes you to Vazhachal and Athirapally from either Kochi or Thrissur town. Chalakkudy, about 30 km away is the nearest railway station. Cochin International Airport is the nearest airport about 58 km from Thrissur. There are frequent buses to Athirapally from Chalakkudy or you can catch a cab (Taxi) from Chalakkudy Railway Station.
GEOGRAPHYIt is near to the entrance of the Sholayar range is a place of great scenic beauty. This picturesque spot is adjacent to dense green forest, and is a part of Chalakkudy River, 50 Km from Valparai towards Chalakkudy, Kerala.

The hindi/ tamil movie Raavan was shot here featuring Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan which opened up Athirapally to the world.
